Below is a list of materials I have found helpful with my students. These comments and opinions are my own, and I have not been paid ANYTHING for any mentions hereafter.

Tutoring

Myself

I personally tutor for the Bar Exam. I don’t take very many students and I typically hit my “maximum number” very quickly. If you’re interested in private tutoring to help you with the Florida Bar Exam, reach out and let me know and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Heddy Muransky, the "Florida Bar Tutor"

Heddy Muransky is one of the BEST tutors you could ever hope to work with. She is the queen of Florida Bar essays, and has been helping people pass this exam for over 20 years. She’ll make you work very hard, but all so that you can pass this exam! She works both with individuals and with groups - and each has had an excellent pass rate.

Books

There aren’t a lot of Florida-specific books that aren’t course-specific. As a result, most of these books will be focused on the MBE - which is Part B of your Florida Bar Exam.

"The MBE Decoded"

I read pretty much every Bar Exam book that comes out. So, in 2021, I grabbed this book casually as I do many others - reading it expecting the “same old” outline. It was not! This book is EXCELLENT. I highly, highly suggest this book as an MBE Outline for retakers. It has numerous clever charts to assist in complex rule memorization, the outlines average around 60 pages rather than the usual 120, and yet it contains all of the highly-tested materials you need to pass. I’ve found huge success when tutoring MBE retakers using this text, as it works well to help students see rules in a way they haven’t previously.

This book works great alongside the next book on the list.

"Strategies & Tactics for the MBE"

This book is ENORMOUS - you could use it as a weapon to commit assault/battery (don’t do that). I like having students use this book when they are struggling with the APPLICATION aspect of MBE questions. While an outline, like the MBE Decoded, helps you memorize rules - it’s an entirely different beast to practice applying those rules to questions. That’s where this book shines.

Each subject chapter starts with a description of “how” it is tested - showing you what to expect. Then it has around 70 questions per subject. Those questions have the longest, most in-depth answer explanations you will find anywhere. Mind you, there is a cost to those lengthy explanations: your exhaustion. But IF you can stomach the lengthy post-question explanations, you will understand these questions better than you ever have before.

This book goes well alongside the MBE Decoded above.

Bar Courses

The charm of a bar course is that it is an “all-in-one package”. The problem is that it isn’t personalized, so these courses don’t work for a number of people. If you’ve done the course and haven’t passed, it is really suggested you seek out tutoring to help push you into the passing range.

That said, I like different courses for different reasons.

Kaplan

I love their MCQ. The MCQ are cruel and unusual - if you get good on their questions the bar exam will actually feel easy in comparison. It is a great approach that ‘scares’ you into deep-diving each issue to make sure you can handle even the niche applications.

My favorite MBE outline of theirs is Constitutional Law. I think it’s the best approach to conquering the MCQ for that subject!

Barbri

I love their Florida sections. Their outlines work amazingly combined with their “Conviser Mini-Review” is magnificent. If I had to pick SOLELY based on Florida MCQ material, Barbri would be my cup of tea.

Their MBE outlines can be a bit overwhelming, and the lectures are waaaaay too long for what they need to do at times.

Themis / UWorld

I love their UWorld Questions. The explanations for UWorld have wonderfully charming imagery reminiscent of a 7th grade text book - and that’s not an insult! It actually helps things click.
